3. Trees, plants and Land--------6. Animals and Man (Ruling over the land, and man is over creation). Man is a RULER. (God= GK, man in God’s image, therefore man= LK, created to RULE)

Reflects on creation. Man has been crowned with glory and honor. He is a ruler and a king.

FRAMEWORK HYPOHESIS: Literary Artistry. Interprets the structure of Genesis.

DERIVITAVE: Nature/ being of God (the nature of God is derivative)
Our understanding is less than God’s.

TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL: (all one word in Hebrew)
It is equally wrong, and it is derived from the knowledge of God. God has determined for them what is good (subdue) and what is evil (to eat of it).
-Fratricide
-Treason
“I know what I should do, (what Scripture says) but I’m going to do it anyways”. That’s what we have to decide every day in our spiritual lives. When we do that, its sin.
-They are not determining their own fate, they had free will, but they weren’t free to determine all things that are good and all things that are evil.

DEATH:

WILL: Dictated by nature of man
Choices: under a fallen nature. You can choose the greater or the lesser evil. You can choose to murder the person in your heart, or murder them physically. Choose to covet their home, or kill them and take it.
(pure Augustinian Theology)

The will is dictated by the nature.
What is the nature? SIN. So your choices all come from sin, so you choose from the lesser of the sinful choices. So we choose Christ, who will live the life we cannot live. It is a theological impossibility for us to do good.

Genesis 5: Adam fathers a son after being kicked out of the garden. So he has a son in his fallen nature, therefore all the sons of Adam are born in the sinful nature. It is the same verse wording of how God created Adam in His image (redeemed nature) and then in Gen5 talks about Adam’s son being in the image of Adam (sinful nature).

QUESTION: WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT OUR NATURE IS FALLEN?
